Art & Australia/Credit Suisse Contemporary Art Award

Rebecca Baumann, a twenty-eight-year-old Perth-born artist inspired by colour and movement has been announced as the most recent recipient of the Art & Australia/Credit Suisse Private Banking Contemporary Art Award.

Rebecca Baumann’s conceptual works examine the idea of creating a continuous colour experience with confetti, tinsel streamers and clouds of smoke to create an almost hypnotic effect. 'I'm really thrilled to have won an Art &Australia/Credit Suisse Private Banking Contemporary Art Award', says Baumann. 'Being featured on the back cover of Art & Australia is a real privilege for an emerging artist such as myself, as it means national exposure of my practice.'

Baumann’s work has been included in recent major national surveys such as 'Primavera 2011' (Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney) and the upcoming 'Contemporary Australia: Women' which opens at Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art next month.
